Golf Society News
Welcome !

Our home venue is West Wilts Golf Club, where most of us are members and meet most weekends for a friendly game and play a competition once a month. On the Sunday following a competition we meet back at the Conservative Club with our wives and guests for lunch and a drink or two, then talk about how well we played. As a golf society we are looking for other societies within a reasonable distance who would be interested in playing a match against us on a home & away basis. If you think you might be interested please contact me. New members always welcome and my contact details are: Bill Powell - Mob: 07860612572 - e-mail : billpowell1@outlook.com

Society Newsletter
Hello golfers, October see’s the end of our summer season, during the summer the society met most weekends for ‘friendly’ matches at West Wilts Golf Club, We have also played several competitions, in June we played ‘the Secretaries Cup’ won by Joe Nolan, in July we played for ‘The Gromit Goblet’ (a much coveted trophy) Won by Wayne Black, in August we played ‘The Club Championship’ played off  the white tees to ‘Medal’ format, again won by Wayne Black with a net score of 71.

In between these competitions we played ‘The Ringwood Four Nations Challenge’, played over three rounds, England finished as winners with 15 ½  points, with Northern Ireland runners up with 9 ½ points. . After each competition we met back at the Con’s Club with our wives & guests for a ‘Presentation lunch’, which is proving to be a popular ‘get together’. (you do not have to have played in the competition to join us for lunch, the more the merrier).

Earlier this month the society were invited to a day’s golf at ‘The Players Golf Club ’as guests of Dave Glew , Business-Development manager, Marston’s beer company, we had a great day out, playing a course in fantastic condition. . Dave organised a ‘Stableford’ competition, won by Nick Cox on ‘countback’ from Wayne Black, with 31 points, Nick also won  ‘nearest the pin’ With Wayne Black winning ‘the longest drive’ (who is this Wayne Black ?).. The day was finished off with a lovely meal in the clubhouse and a few beers at the bar (a few too many).

Many thanks Dave for a great day enjoyed by all and I would also like to thank Dave for supplying ‘The Ringwood Trophy’  ( The Four Nations Challenge). . The first tee at ‘The Players’ - L to R   W. (we will meet for lunch on the Sunday following each round). . Friendly games will be played most weekends subject to weather & course availability. . I will keep you updated with texts & e-mails.
